Kuziva Huni

Managing Partner

Kuziva is a development practitioner, with extensive experience as an advisor to private, public, and third-sector organizations. She has nearly 15 years of advisory experience across 18 African markets bringing sound market-based knowledge, complemented by solid stakeholder management, as demonstrated by her ability to achieve consensus in highly complex project environments.  She also advises governments, non-profits and philanthropists on policy, programming and innovative investment strategies that maximize positive social and environmental outcomes, with a focus on energy, climate change and inclusive development. 

In her current role, Kuziva works with some of the largest foundations and investors globally to transform their programs and investment portfolio through sustainable and impact-driven strategies. The focus of her work in the last decade has been at the nexus of energy and development finance, contributing to strategies that help accelerate the mobilisation of capital in developing markets for the energy transition. She recently led a ministerial taskforce for the Kenya Ministry of Energy to develop an ambitious Energy White Paper setting the country on a path to a 100% clean energy mix by 2040. To date client engagements she has led have resulted in the mobilization of over USD500m in impact driven funding. 

She previously served in senior management roles for The Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability, Dalberg and KPMG where she led client engagements. She also served as a Strategy Executive in financial services for Atlas Mara, where she led the bank’s turnaround strategy. 

She holds an MBA from the Africa Leadership University, Post-Graduate in Management Studies (Corporate Finance and Strategy) and an undergraduate in Industrial Sociology from the University of Cape Town.

Zwelijongile Gwebityala

Chief Operating Officer

Zwelijongile is a strategist and data enthusiast who is passionate about leveraging data to deliver insightful tech-driven development solutions to tackle complex development challenges. Zweli is responsible for building our research and data platforms to ensure we deliver data-driven insights to our clients. He leads teams in conducting highly analytical work and building technological solutions that leverage big data.

He has over a decade’s experience as a management consultant having working worked for leading global consultancy firms such as Mckinsey. At Mckinsey he was an engagement manager in both their Lagos and Johannesburg offices. Prior to joining IA he led a consulting practice that he grew 3x in under 5 years with a focus on transforming operational effectiveness of utilities in the public sector.  He has also worked with global entities and governments to help enable them to optimise their business models.

Zweli holds a Bachelor’s degree with majors in Applied Mathematics and Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He is also a member of the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance, an alliance of over 100 high potential African tech entrepreneurs.

Wadzi Katsidzira

Sustainability and Climate Transition

Wadzi is a sustainability and social investment specialist leading projects in strategy, climate transition, portfolio management and program design.

She advises clients in government, financial services, mining and philanthropy on the implications of the climate transition, structuring grants and investments, and building collaborative initiatives.

Sustainable development calls for new ways-of-working and greater cross-pollination, and Wadzi’s work is informed by over a decade of experience partnering with investors, governments and not-for-profit organisations in Australia, Africa, Europe and America.

Cathy Goddard

Finance and impact Investing

Cathy is an accomplished finance and impact investing professional, notably recognized as the founding partner of FyreFem, a South African-based 100% women-owned private equity and debt fund manager. Cathy was a founding Investment Committee member and is an investor in Satgana, a climate tech venture capital firm based in Luxemburg, investing in technology solutions for climate sustainability across various sectors in Africa and Europe. Additionally, she holds a pivotal role as an Investment Committee member at Spear Capital, a Scandinavian-backed fund specializing in growth capital funding across African markets. She’s also a regulatory compliance leader and a key individual for FSCA-registered entities and works with private equity and venture capital funds in this capacity in the infrastructure, technology and services sectors. With a history of driving innovative growth investment she’s a catalyst for positive change in the financial and entrepreneurial sectors.She served as a board member of the Southern African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (“SAVCA”) since September 2016-2022, where her insights shaped the industry. 

Dr. Remeredzai Joseph Kuhudzai

Emobility and Renewable Energy

Dr. Remeredzai Joseph Kuhudzai is the Founder of Electric Drive Africa (EDA), a Pan African Platform promoting the adoption of electric vehicles across the continent. Over the past 2 years he has been travelling across the continent and collaborating with stakeholders to raise awareness on electric vehicles.

He is also an Author at CleanTechnica, one of the World’s top sites for Cleantech news and electric vehicles.

At university he explored materials with applications in the energy space ending up doing a PhD involving the study of radiation damage in High Temperature Gas Cooled Nuclear Reactors.

He has since transitioned to work in the solar and storage industry and his love for batteries has driven him to obsess about electric vehicles.

He is also the Head of Innovation for Distributed Power Africa, a market leader in innovative solar energy solutions with  operations in Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Davis Cook

Sustainability and Climate Transition

Davis is a seasoned senior executive and currently CEO at The Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability – RIIS, an organisation that builds innovation ecosystems for industries, regions and sectors.

He is a Non-Executive Director at Anza Capital (an early stage African-focused VC fund), and the SA Innovation Summit and for ZASpace, the South African private sector industry body for the space value chain in the country.

He has worked in conceptualising and implementing major industry development roadmaps, including flagship partnerships with Minerals Council South Africa (where RIIS is the long-term strategic modernisation partner) and Freeport Saldanha (where FS and RIIS have jointly designed and implemented the Saldanha Bay Innovation Campus programme).

More broadly, Davis works with senior leaders to understand the range of possible futures that their organisations, sectors, and industries may face, and craft strategies to pursue preferred scenarios.

He has previously held senior roles in global consulting firms in both Johannesburg and London; was responsible for economic growth strategy for the Gauteng Provincial Government’s investment holdings firm (BlueIQ) and established multiple start-ups including in renewable energy.

Shepherd Shonhiwa

Energy and Public Administration

Shepherd is a seasoned Executive with extensive experience working with leaders in the private, public and third sectors. Shepherd has over 30yrs experience Energy, Oil and Gas experience having overseen regional and national operations for entities such as Shell and Egoli Gas.

More recently he was appointed President of the Liquid Petroleum Gas Association (Zimbabwe).

Shepherd is also a thought leader in Corporate governance and public administration, he has made notable contributions to leading Corporate Governance Frameworks such as the King frameworks and authored publications and books contributing to the good Governance practices and Leadership knowledge repository.

He has also led the Institute of Directors South Africa, a professional body that seeks to advance good corporate governance practices and director development, including serving as its Chairperson for four years (between 2003 to 2009).
